General Introduction to Working With Data In Python/Pandas

Python Business Intelligence Cookbook is a good introduction to the basics of Pandas and working with csv files and MongoDB. One of the books few shortcomings is the lack of recipes showing interaction with a traditional RDBMS. While it can be understood that due to the variety and intermediate complexity that accessing a SQL database directly is out of scope for the book, it would have been nice to provide some reference to start with. That said, the various data types and process for analyzing, organizing, and visualizing data is spot on. The author even dives into predictive analytics. If you are looking for a general overview then this is a decent place to start.

A good introduction to BI in Python. One drawback is that
the only database considered is MongoDB, ignoring other NoSQL and relational DBs, but the idea here is that you import your data, wherever it comes from, into MongoDB for BI analysis, so it is not that bad.

The core chapters are about understanding your data and performing data analysis on it, showing how to perform the most common operations: linear and logistic regression, random forest and SVM.

Last chapter is about quickly building a BI dashboard and I wish it was a little more elaborate and deep, especially regarding UI for presenting data to business users.

All in all a good introductory book on BI with Python

Good for Python developers wanting to add BI functionality

If you are Python programmer introducing BI functionality to your applications then this would be a good starting point. The content is reasonably good, but for many of the tasks covered, similar results could be achieved much quicker and easier with dedicated Business Intelligence tools for ETL and reporting. Also, the database used is MongoDB. There is no coverage of many popular NoSQL and RDBMS systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Hadoop and Oracle that are likely to be used in the corporate world. But as a starting point some of these recipes could be adapted to use other systems as well. All in all, a decent effort, but somewhat limited in applicability

In the vacuum left by the decline of the Democratic and Republican parties, single-interest groups have risen and flourished. Protest movements on the left and the New Right at the opposite pole have challenged and divided the major parties, and the Reagan Revolution--in reversing a fifty-year trend toward governmental expansion--may turn out to have revolutionized the party system too.

In this edition, as in the first, current political trends and events are placed in a historical and theoretical context. Focusing upon three major realignments of the past--those of the 1850s, the 1890s, and the 1930s--Sundquist traces the processes by which basic transformations of the country's two-party system occur. From the historical case studies, he fashions a theory as to the why and how of party realignment, then applies it to current and recent developments, through the first two years of the Reagan presidency and the midterm election of 1982.

The theoretical sections of the first edition are refined in this one, the historical sections are revised to take account of recent scholarship, and the chapters dealing with the postwar period are almost wholly rewritten. The conclusion of the original work is, in general, confirmed: the existing party system is likely to be strengthened as public attention is again riveted on domestic economic issues, and the headlong trend of recent decades toward political independence and party disintegration reversed, at least for a time.

This was a required textbook in a political science class I took back in college, and should be required reading for anyone seeking to understand how the major political parties form and how they are able to change over time to prevent the long-term survival of third parties.

Why was this not included in book 7

I enjoyed the series and thought I was finished when I purchased book 7. I was very disappointed in the ending. I then came across book 7.5. After reading I felt that this should have been included in the prior book and the ending was still a disappointment. Not sure I will read more from this author. Not enough depth for me.

very good writer, a little boring at times like the author is trying to just fill pages. I read all 8.5 episodes some of the pages I actually skipped over because it was repetitive and a bit boring. However, it was interesting enough for me to read them all. I also thought that episode 7.5 was greed on the part of the author/publisher all of this episode could have been included with the final episode but she wanted to make more money. I am unsure if I would read something from this author again in the future.

Wish it wasn't the end!

I am so sad that this is the last book. This is a series that you can read forever! This was the first series that I have read from this author and it is not the last now. I should have just bought the whole series at first since I had panic attacks when the first and second book ended and I didn't have the other book. This women is my hero! (In the book) Cora is a strong and kind and caring person who didn't deserve what came her way. We need more books like this.
