About the Author
Bob Pelshaw was a successful Midwestern real estate broker, developer, and consultant specializing in free-standing retail projects for national and regional retailers, as well as private shopping centers, office buildings, multi-family projects, and leadership development. His twenty-five year career included service as a state officer for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) plus over $600 Million in career transactions. Along the way he also invested in, or consulted for, various other types of businesses including laundromats, a janitorial company, brokerage, convenience stores, grocery stores, retail stores, car wash, a restaurant, barber shops, construction companies, a resort hotel, property management, rental properties, self-storage facilities, a health club, marketing organizations, and others. Pelshaw served numerous non-profit groups including being a Director and Officer for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapter, his church, and most notably as an Associate Trainer for Dr. John C. Maxwell’s global non-profit ministry Equip. Through Equip, Pelshaw has taught leadership globally to thousands. The Great Recession found Pelshaw financially over-extended. Coupled with trusting the wrong people, and some bad business decisions made, Pelshaw suffered a catastrophic loss of a multi-million dollar asset base. In his efforts to stay afloat and “rob Peter to pay Paul” Pelshaw stupidly temporarily misused $135,000 of SBA loan proceeds which caused him to receive a felony and serve a ten-month sentence at Leavenworth Federal Prison Camp. Since serving his time he has focused on providing consulting services, writing, public speaking, and public service. He is also the author of “Raising Up The Champion Within You: David & Goliath Grown-Up Version” and the soon to be released “Time Management is Dead.” Pelshaw is about to be re-married and start a family.

An essential book for all who are inspired to use their God given entrepreneurial skills to become financially independent. A great guide for those whom have tried illegal enterprises, failed and are now on the straight and narrow. There are many books about business, but Bob has put together a great work on how to utilize your passion to become a successful business owner. His years of business experience and knowledge make this a must have resource for all. The book is a testimony that opportunity abounds for all who will apply themselves and refuse to be counted out. Bob doesn’t just tell you how to succeed, but he gives you meaningful tools and material to assist you in your business endeavor. He also authored Raising up the Champion within You: David & Goliath Grown-Up Version.

I read "Illegal to Legal" and was amazed at the ability of a single book to provide a clear path to success for anyone that has been incarcerated. The author is well aware of the additional obstacles that face each individual that wants to start a business after being released from prison.
I personally recommend this book to anyone that has a loved one currently incarcerated. This book gives the one thing that is almost priceless in prison and that is hope. After reading "Illegal to Legal" you realize that hope can turn into reality if you just don't give up and focus on the skills you have had all along, but never realized.

"Illegal to Legal" is a compelling read for anyone interested in establishing and maintaining a business. I have the pleasure of volunteering at Book 'Em, an organization devoted to enriching lives of those incarcerated by sending them donated books. The most frequent requests from prisoners are those dealing with instructional guides for establishing businesses. "Illegal to Legal" is the most informative and helpful "how to" publication in Book 'Em's inventory. I can imagine the impact this amazing book would have if Book 'Em could get a copy into every driven ex-offender's possession.
